The Franklin Education Foundation has initiated the Global Philanthropy Leadership Internship Programs, in partnership with IvyMax. These programs are designed to engage high school and college students with leadership potential, offering immersive experiences with underserved communities and learning opportunities from professionals at leading companies and global organizations. This collaboration aims to develop intellectual vitality, enhance interpersonal skills, and instill a strong commitment to global responsibility.

Program Goals and Impact

GPL programs focus on educating students about the critical importance of global interconnectedness, particularly highlighted by the current financial crisis. Through interactions with international business executives and political leaders, interns will explore global business and economic dependencies and engage in projects that deliver sustainable impacts on society and the environment.

Microfinance Rural Poverty Alleviation Project

Nepal

Sustainable Development Project

Our Sustainable Development Nepal program, influenced by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is for students interested in sustainable development and environment conservation. In collaboration with the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), students engage in data collection and research on agriculture and civil/environmental engineering, conduct interviews, and analyze qualitative data, gaining essential research skills. This program offers practical experience in promoting eco-friendly development in mountainous areas.

Costa Rica

Biodiversity Conservation Project

Our students will collaborate with local environmentalists and biologists to raise environmental awareness. They will target Costa Rican local communities, involving local residents in biodiversity conservation, exploring sustainable ways to protect the environment, and ultimately mitigating environmental threats. With the assistance of local volunteers, students will learn basic Spanish for communication and have the opportunity to educate local school children on the importance of environmental protection.

Kenya, Africa

Wildlife Conservation Project

Understanding Kenya’s ecological environment and wildlife conservation status, identifying issues, and finding effective solutions through interdisciplinary research.

  • Learning about Kenya’s natural reserve system.
  • Understanding the survival status of wildlife in Kenya.

Arizona

Biodiversity Conservation Project

This distinctive program emphasizes immersive field research, blending theoretical learning with practical experience in biodiversity conservation. Participants will start with two online courses and then embark on an extensive field study in one of North America’s most biologically rich regions. By exploring Southern Arizona’s diverse ecosystems firsthand, students will gain profound insights and hands-on skills in addressing global environmental challenges.
