SAT prep course
Course Overview
At IvyMax, our SAT prep courses are structured for both strategy and results. Each program typically includes 7 to 10 intensive classes, with each session lasting 2 hours and taught by subject-specific SAT instructors. Students usually complete the full course 1 to 2 weeks before their official SAT test date, allowing time for final review, adaptive practice, and test-day readiness. Whether preparing over several months or in a focused sprint, IvyMax ensures every student is equipped with the knowledge, techniques, and confidence to perform at their best on test day.

SAT Prep Course Timeline
Grade Level | Best Action |
---|---|
10th Grade | Start diagnostic + enroll in English or Math foundation |
11th Grade (Fall) | Begin full SAT prep for first official sitting |
11th Grade (Spring) | Plan retake and prepare to superscore |
12th Grade | Final sprint (2–3 months focused strategy) |
Most Ivy League and top-tier universities expect SAT scores between 1500–1570, especially for STEM and competitive majors. While some schools are test-optional, a high SAT score still strengthens your application.
SAT registration is done online at collegeboard.org, but test centers fill up fast—especially in Cupertino, Arcadia, and Irvine. It’s best to register 3–4 months in advance of your target date.
The new SAT is adaptive, digital-only, and significantly shorter than the old paper version. It includes two Reading/Writing modules and two Math modules, all taken on Bluebook.
A 1200 SAT score is slightly above the national average and generally achievable with 1–2 months of consistent prep. However, top universities often expect scores above 1400, so students aiming higher typically follow longer-term prep plans with strategic guidance.
