The USA Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO) is the premier math competition for high school students in the United States, challenging the best and brightest to showcase their problem-solving skills and mathematical knowledge. Each year, approximately 500 top students are invited to participate in this rigorous examination, which serves as a gateway to international competition and recognition.

Why Take the USA(J)MO?

Students who qualify for the USA(J)MO are among the highest performing students in the US. Typically, between 200-300 students qualify for USAMO and 150-250 students qualify for USA(J)MO. Qualifying for USA(J)MO requires skill and hard work, making it a significant achievement to include on resumes and college applications. Participation demonstrates exceptional mathematical ability and dedication.

Eligibility Criteria

Participation in the USAMO is by invitation only. Students qualify based on their performance in the AMC 10, AMC 12, and AIME exams. Each year, around 500 students from the U.S. and Canada are selected to compete in this prestigious event.
