IvyMax is proud to host the USA Biology Olympiad (USABO), the premier biology competition for high school students in the U.S. USABO enhances life science education for nearly 10,000 students each year, providing valuable resources and training to help them achieve international competitiveness.

Eligibility Criteria

The USABO is open to high school students in grades 9 through 12 who are U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. Students must attend a USABO-registered school and have a teacher willing to administer the USABO Open Exam. Homeschool students can participate by arranging to take the exam at a local high school.

How the Contest Works

The USABO contest involves two rounds of challenging exams. The first round is the USABO Open Exam, and the second round is the USABO Semifinal Exam. The top 20 students from the semifinal round are invited to the National Finals, a residential training program where they learn advanced biological concepts and lab skills. The top four students from the National Finals form Team USA to compete in the International Biology Olympiad (IBO).

The PhysicsBowl is an international high school contest where teams compete regionally on a timed physics test from March 20 to April 5, 2024, across two experience-based divisions.
