Overview

The 8-Week Innovation Program, hosted by Franklin Education Foundation, is an elite research experience designed for high school students to work alongside renowned faculty from UC Los Angeles (UCLA), UC Irvine (UCI), and UC Riverside (UCR). Through real-world research projects, students will gain hands-on experience in STEM fields, strengthen their academic portfolios, and prepare for future college and career opportunities.

3-Week Virtual Research Training

  • Master scientific research methodology
  • Learn data collection, analysis, and scientific writing
  • Understand research ethics, proposal writing, and presentation techniques

5-Week In-Person Lab Research

  • Conduct hands-on research projects in cutting-edge STEM fields
  • Work in university research labs under faculty mentorship
  • Present findings at a professional research symposium

Scientific Research

Research Area Topics: Pioneering Biomedical & Cancer Research

At UCLA, students will focus on medical research, cell biology, and cancer studies, working alongside top biomedical researchers. This research experience is ideal for students interested in medicine, genetics, and future careers in healthcare or biotechnology.

Research Area Topics: Advancing AI & Engineering Innovation

At UC Irvine, students will dive into mathematical modeling, AI applications in mathematics, and engineering principles. Through hands-on research, they will explore how artificial intelligence and data science intersect with problem-solving in real-world applications.

💡 Students conducting research under UCI faculty may be eligible to earn two UCI college credits upon successful completion.
