The PSAT is a preliminary version of the SAT used to assess college readiness and identify top academic performers for the National Merit Scholarship.
A score above 1350 (Selection Index ~200+) is competitive for National Merit consideration in many states.
We recommend beginning PSAT preparation in the summer before 10th or 11th grade for maximum score growth.
Yes—PSAT covers the same skill domains as the SAT. Strong PSAT performance often predicts later SAT success.

“At first, I wasn’t planning to prep for the PSAT because I thought it didn’t matter. But IvyMax made me realize it’s a perfect way to get ahead on SAT topics. The strategies I learned—especially for reading—helped me on both tests. I scored a 1460 on the PSAT and later a 1530 on the SAT.”
